GreenRoom: Malaysia’s New Indie Playground

June 2025 – GreenRoom lit up JAMBOX in the most chaotic way possible! And we mean the good kind of chaos… or maybe not?

GreenRoom was all about the art, the music and the community. It was a two-day creative playground packed with live performances, hands-on workshops, one-of-a-kind art installations and a curated marketplace.

This wasn’t your typical weekend market. GreenRoom brought the best of hidden gems from the local scene into one gritty, high-energy space. Picture this: custom guitar pedals by ZFX Industries, vinyl records from Vinyl Thirty3, rebellious jewellery from Pretendworld Shopfront, handpicked mixtapes from INVERSA, whimsical handmade bags from Kedai Zoe, Chill Peel’s signature coconuts, HotMess’s legendary Tater Pizza, Anna Donna’s ooey-gooey cookies and so much more! With fire beats from the DJ lineup pulsing through the air, it felt like a treasure hunt and many walked away with some seriously good finds (and maybe some weird ones, but we like weird)!

But hold onto your matcha and art finds, the market wasn’t the only thrill at GreenRoom! Did we mention the workshops in store? In one corner, guitar heads were getting down and dirty with Rfidi from Guitar Hospital learning how to keep their instruments rocking with some at-home maintenance magic. Meanwhile, in another corner, Mokhtarizal from ISeekMusicStudio was laying down the basics of recording, guiding aspiring musicians and curious creatives through the ins and outs of recording process. And for anyone drawn to the art of traditional craft, Pangrok Sulap in collaboration with Tali Art Gallery, brought some serious edge with their Woodcut Workshop, diving deep into the gritty world of traditional carving and printmaking.

Art lovers weren’t left out either, with immersive art installations by Dasein Academy of Art and Tali Art Gallery.

But the real heart of GreenRoom? The live performances, for sure! Powered by Undercurrent, GreenRoom absolutely rocked the stage with a killer lineup: Midnight Fusic’s emotive indie anthems, SWEETASS’s noise-pop, Spooky Wet Dream’s boundary-pushing tunes, HAWA’s grunge-laced music and NOTE/VOID’s groovy melodies. The crowd were left sweaty, moshing and vibing non-stop! We’re talking ear-ringing, heart-pumping vibe. Even a wild croc appeared (iykyk)! To sum it all up: Five acts + one stage = genre-defying madness!

Missed the first edition of GreenRoom? Fret not, we might just have a surprise in store for you next time!
